SUPER TOOGOOD
OUTSHINES THEM ALL

On a night when Watford and a set of new floodlights were billed as the star attractions, it was Northwood goalkeeper John Toogood who outshone them all.

Toogood was at his brilliant best and Malcolm Poskett in particular, who was one of the three first team squad men in the Watford side, must have wondered just what he had to do to score as the keeper thwarted him time and again with a string of superb saves.

On a dull evening with continual drizzle, no doubt responsible for keeping the crowd down to a disappointing 500, it was just what was needed to liven the sort of contest that by tradition always lacks a certain amount of bite.

Toogood's performance was put in greater perspective 10 minutes from time when Don Lucas drilled a firm drive under the body of keeper Lloyd Scott to put Northwood ahead.

But a lack of composure that has been more than evident in Northwood’s ranks this season caught them cold again as Dennis Elliott beat the gallant Toogood to put Watford level within a minute and give the evening a satisfactory conclusion.
